Inspirational Lectures

Rabbi Chaim Zwick

Our goal is not to fill you with a lot of Torah facts and information, but to offer lectures that motivate and inspire our listeners. The Torah is not a history book, rather it's a moving, uplifting, comprehensive system where a person can learn, grow and continue to gain new insights which serve to deepen, enhance and enrich his relationship with his creator.

THE DUALITY OF LIFE

The Ariezal in his Sefer "Etz Chaim" says, just like a person is made up of the duality of 2 polar opposites - a body and a soul, the Torah also has a revealed and hidden dimension. He goes on to say if a person only learns the revealed parts of the Torah - he is compared to a body without a soul - which is dull and lifeless. Also if a person only learns the hidden dimension of the Torah and not the revealed - he is like a soul without a body. The Ariezal explains, completion and perfection can only be achieved on an individual and global level, when the duality of these 2 polar opposites are united - the body and the soul, or the revealed and hidden aspects of the Torah.

CHARACTER BUILDING

When we study the inner secrets of the Torah with sincerity of heart, day after day, we cannot help but to refine our personality, emotions and mind. This process is cyclical - the more we study the inner dimensions of Torah with proper intent, the better we understand the manifestations of Hashem in the world and are inspired to emulate his qualities. The more we refine our character in the emulation of Hashem, the closer we come to the divine presence in the world and are thus better able to understand the inner dimension of reality and to experience Hashem in creation.
