PART 19: THE MOST POWERFUL JEWISH COMMUNITY OF ALL
B.S.D.
Rabbi Shimon Kessin
Techniques to prevent listening
Who is the most powerful Jewish community of all? It is that community whose members are Torah observant Jews focusing on the diligent observance of all the commandments that relate to Hashem and to their fellow Jews. This would be the optimal circumstance. Minimally, however, there is another circumstance that could qualify a community for this title. Even where a Jewish community was lax or negligent in their Torah observance, if they could, through their actions, consistently influence Hashem to exercise his father and mercy aspect towards them, they would also be considered very powerful as well. How would they do this? They would do this by demonstrating the two behaviors that most enable Hashem's mercy to dominate.
They are:
- The steadfast absence of Loshon Hora and Rechilus
- Being constantly alert to the dangers facing Jews everywhere, both spiritual and physical, and never ceasing to implore Hashem through their prayers to be merciful and redemptive to these endangered Jews.
Many tragedies that we've experienced could have been diminished or even prevented
Had the Jewish people throughout their history demonstrated even only this latter action in the way described, then most of the tragedies that they experienced could have been diminished or even prevented.
The purpose of this booklet is to help empower the Jewish people through these two ways. By discussing the essential laws of Loshon Hora and Rechilus and by explaining the power and obligation of the redemptive prayers, it is hoped that this will be accomplished.
When will the Jewish people awaken? When will they demonstrate their true power and take charge of their destiny? When will they do what it takes to shower themselves with mercy from Hashem, the father and not justice from Hashem, the king. When will they confront and weaken their accusing angels so that they experience only the barest of national and personal troubles? The hour is late and the time is now. Let us all rise to the occasion and give honor and nachas to Hashem, the Father and the King. Amen, may it be His will.
